Alliance Implements News Capsule Distribution system at All India Radio.

All India Radio required a cost effective and efficient solution to streamline the process of distribution of new capsules in the form of sound files from a central location to various regional stations of AIR.
ALL India Radio is a national service planned, developed and operated by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting under the Government of India. The operations of All India Radio began formally in 1936, as a government organization, with clear objectives to inform, educate and entertain the masses.
AIR today has a network of 210 broadcasting centers with 146 medium frequency(MW), 54 high frequency (SW) and 133 FM transmitters. The coverage is 89.66% of the area , serving 98.84% of the people in the largest democracy of the world. AIR covers 24 Languages and 146 dialects in home services.
All India Radio required a cost effective and efficient solution to streamline the process of distribution of new capsules in the form of sound files from a central location to various regional stations of AIR.
On studying the requirement the software team at Alliance developed a customized solution wherein the news capsules were created, updated, validated, compressed, encrypted and automatically transferred to the various stations of AIR though telephone lines and modems via local calls. The regional station would automatically download the latest news – capsule. The system is designed to work round the clock without any human intervention. The News Capsule Distribution System encapsulates the basic transfer mechanism and hides the intricacies from the users and application services.
