Parole Reporting
A parole reporting system is programmed to receive calls from parolees or to
call them regularly at a given location. They are prompted to answer a series of
questions that indicate adherence to parole guidelines. With more sophisticated
systems, ANI information can be used to verify the location of the calling party
and voice verification can identify the caller.
Collect Call Service
In order to avoid the problems associated with the use of telephones by prison
inmates, an automated tracking, billing and collection system enables calls to
be placed safely. An inmate wishing to place a collect call is prompted to
record his/her voice before dialing the number. Before the call is connected,
the called party hears the recorded voice and a recording asking whether the
party wishes to receive the collect call. The called party can respond by saying
"yes" or "no." Callers are identified by an account number or by their voice,
and each call is charged to their account. An automated billing system keeps an
ongoing record of the charges.
Jury Duty Scheduling
Prospective jurors respond to a jury duty summons by calling an automated
registration system. They are prompted to enter their dates of service and told
where and when to appear. Postponements are registered and flagged when the
maximum number is reached. The system automatically generates summonses from a
database of available candidates and keeps track of the number of jurors needed
on a given day.
Visitation Scheduling
Inmate visitation scheduling can be automated using a Computer Telephony system.
Families, relatives, or friends who wish to visit inmates call at any time and
select an available day and time to visit. This information is processed by
computer, and a visitation schedule is printed.
